Far too often, I am asked the question “How do you stay so fit when you cook all those great recipes?” My response is always the same, portion control, moderation and fitness!! One of my favorite ways to stay fit is ZUMBA, seriously I AM addicted and here is why:
1. ZUMBA IS A HIGH CALORIE BURNING FORM OF EXERCISE
After Zumba class I am sweaty and exhausted yet so geared up and feeling absolutely GREAT mind body and spirit! ZUMBA is a great combination of high and low intensity movements. For me this is perfect because burning calories is one of the top reasons I exercise, right next to getting toned and fighting off the over 40 inevitable health risks. The Department of Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse conducted a study that found that Zumba classes were an efficient and effective way to lose weight due to the high number of calories burned and cardiovascular intensity. This study confirmed my thoughts but I really didn’t need to read it to know I was burning lots of calories, because all I had to do was look at my sweaty clothes after class and I knew I was leaving there a little lighter!
2. ZUMBA IS MY MAKE BELIEVE NIGHT CLUB
I am a Mama of two and wife of 11 years. Let’s keep something extremely real, I don’t hang out at night clubs or bars anymore. But let’s also recognize that in my glorious 20’s I loved going to night clubs and bars because I love love love to dance. There is something about music and moving my body to the beat that just makes me happy, releases stress and keeps me motivated in life! Heck I still play music and dance a little when I am getting dressed in the mornings! BUT ZUMBA that is my make believe night club because I can just get lost in the music and the movements. I especially love the ZUMBA classes I take in Maryland because they combine Latin and Indian dance moves with some hip hop and R&B so it’s safe to say I am in heaven at ZUMBA! Hence my addiction!!!!!!
3. ZUMBA HELPS ME BE A HOTT MAMA
Being a Mother or a Wife doesn’t mean you stop being HOTT! I refuse to give up my sizzle HA HA! If I don’t do anything else for self, I made a promise to myself that I would always keep my appearances up. It is so easy to get caught up in life, kids, husband, all the responsibilities that come with those titles and so much more. But I make it a point not to lose me. I dress fashionably (even in my cute sweats and jeans), I take care of my skin and I always make time to EXERCISE ~ which always includes ZUMBA at least once a week!
