Game Night Sweet and Tangy Mumbo Wings

Football is here and entertaining for the game is what I LOVE LOVE LOVE to do!!!!  Anyone who knows me knows I love to entertain and what better an event than a good game of Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Hockey, Golf or WHATEVA sport you love to watch.  Invite family and friends over and make them some wings baby!!!!  I will be posting my recipe for Game Night Buffalo Wings, but I wanted to give something different, to add some variety to your game!!  These wings are full of flavor.  From the sweetness of when I brined the wings in root beer to the Capital City Mumbo Sauce I used, the flavor will have you licking your fingers, so be sure to provide napkins for your guests!!  Enjoy Enjoy and one more ENJOY – LETS PLAY BALL!!!!

Shhhh! Don’t tell anyone but I drank this entire bottle of Mumbo Sauce! Hope I don’t have a WingOver in the morning! HAHA!!

GAME NIGHT MUMBO WINGS

INGREDIENTS:

Wingettes
4-6 cups of root beer (I used A&W)
6 tbsp. of kosher salt (no iodine)
Mumbo Sauce (I used Capital City Mumbo Sauce)
Cooking spray (I use Pam)
4 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
Sea salt (to taste)
Ground Pepper (to taste)
Granulated Garlic (to taste)

READY, SET GO:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees
  2. Clean wingettes
  3. Brine wingettes in root beer and kosher salt with a cover in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours (brine means to allow to soak in)
  4. After wingettes are brined drain and pat dry with paper towel
  5. Put wingettes in a bowl and add extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, ground pepper and granulated garlic and toss to coat wingettes
  6. Line baking sheet(s) with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray
  7. Line wingettes on baking sheet bone up
  8. Spray the wingettes with cooking spray (this will give the skin a nice crispy texture)
  9. Bake in oven  for 40 minutes (20 minutes on each side – once you turn wingettes over make sure you spray that side with cooking spray for crispy skin) or until cooked through
  10. After wingettes are baked through, transfer wingettes to baking pan and pour mumbo sauce all over wingettes
  11. After wingettes are covered nicely in the mumbo sauce return to the oven to bake for another 10 minutes so sauce can get to know the wingettes well
  12. Remove from oven and allow to rest for at least 5 minutes before serving
  13. Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy and one more Enjoy!!  OH and don’t forget your napkins, you WILL get the urge to lick your fingers!!

** Tip – This recipe is sweet and tangy, if you want to spice it up, add some cayenne pepper

Utokia- Being that I’m in Massachusetts, Mumbo Sauce isn’t readily available…woman, I got a recipe off http://www.food.com and just made my own sauce-had the wings sitting in the root beer overnight,I hope that doesn’t mess it up-can’t wait to taste them!
