So if you have subscribed to ShesGotFlavor or follow ShesGotFlavor on Facebook and Instagram then you know when I fall in love with food at restaurants I become obsessed in recreating it at home to share with all of you. Today is no different! Welp this time, I was inspired by the Baby Cakes from Costal Flats, a restaurant in Virginia. I did it ya’ll I did it, this Shrimp & Crab Cake Slider is delicious!

Ingredients

  • Can Jumbo Crab Meat
  • 8-10 Large Uncooked Shrimp, Deveined and Tail Off, Chopped by Hand or Food Processor into Small Pieces
  • 1/3 Cup Mayo (PLUS 1/4 Cup Mayo for Spicy Mayo)
  • 1/4 Cup Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Egg
  • 1-2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 Cup Mascarpone Cheese
  • 2 tbsp Hot Sauce (plus 1 tbsp Hot Sauce for Spicy Mayo)
  • 1 Cup Seasoned Panko Crumbs
  • 1-2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1-2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1-2 tsp Crushed Garlic
  • Mini Brioche Slider Buns
  • 2-4 tbsp Seafood Seasoning
  • 1-2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 2-4 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1/4 Cup Lettuce

Instructions

  1. Whisk together 1/3 cup mayo, dijon mustard, egg, seafood seasoning, lemon juice, mascarpone, and hot sauce in a large bowl
  2. Fold in crab and shrimp and seasoned panko crumbs
  3. Form round mini shrimp and crab cakes in your hand
  4. Place shrimp and crab cakes in refrigerator 15-30 minutes (can also be left in over night)
  5. Turn oven to 400 degrees and heat olive oil in a sautee pan over medium to high heat
  6. Sear shrimp and crab cakes 3-5 minutes on each side, add unsalted butter and garlic to the  pan and base/pour over shrimp and crab cakes, then place in oven 8-10 minutes or until cooked through
  7. LET'S WARM THE SLIDER BUNS
  8. Spread unsalted butter on buns and season with Italian seasoning, turn the broiler on and broil until golden brown
  9. LET'S MAKE THE SPICY MAYO
  10. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup mayo, ketchup and 1 tbsp hot sauce until blended
  11. LET'S BUILD THE SLIDER
  12. Add shrimp and crab cake to slider bun along with lettuce (optional) and spicy mayo (optional)
  13. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!

what can you replace mascarpone cheese with as it is so overly expensive here
